Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh: BJP leader Ashish Upadhyay made a strong statement on Saturday while being escorted to jail after a court appearance in connection with an alleged betting syndicate case under investigation in Jhansi.

Speaking briefly outside the court premises, Upadhyay claimed that the truth behind the case would eventually come out. Referring to the matter as a conspiracy against him, he told supporters and media personnel, “धर्म की विजय होगी और अधर्म का नाश होगा” (“Truth and righteousness will prevail, and evil will be destroyed”). His remarks quickly went viral on social media, triggering mixed reactions from supporters and critics alike.

According to police officials, the investigation into the alleged betting network is still ongoing. Authorities are reportedly examining financial transactions and possible links connected to the operation. Investigators have hinted that further legal action may follow as more evidence is reviewed.

The case has attracted significant attention in Jhansi’s political circles, with police reportedly questioning multiple individuals believed to be associated with the alleged betting racket. However, officials have not yet revealed the full extent of the network, citing the ongoing investigation.

A large number of Upadhyay’s supporters gathered outside the court during the hearing, raising slogans in his support and adding a political atmosphere to the proceedings. Meanwhile, opposition leaders have demanded a fair and transparent investigation, urging authorities to ensure that no political influence affects the probe.

With financial records and key connections still under scrutiny, the investigation is expected to continue in the coming weeks, making it one of the most closely watched political controversies in Jhansi.
